The Perfect Wedding

With summer rounding out it’s final blissful weeks engaged girls everywhere are attempting to get their weddings in under the wire, before weather becomes a little more unpredictable.  One of these excited young bridezillas is my little sister.  She became engaged in June and wanted to have the wedding before the summer was officially over.  I think the short engagement is a good idea.  I never saw the point in a 6 or 12-month engagement anyway.  Do you want to get married?  Then pull the trigger.

In my male mind I could never figure out why you couldn’t throw a wedding together with one afternoon of phone calls.  The only problem I can think of with throwing a wedding the next day is the cake.  Apparently it takes a while to make a cake –easy answer, Baskin Robins ice cream cake.  Now there’s a cake people would enjoy.  All together I think a “next day” wedding would be a party people would like to go to, if for no other reason than to see how it would go.  Once you take the stress out of attempting to make it perfect, people might have a good time.  All that being said, my sister did want it to be perfect, which led to a fairly serious remodel of my parent’s back yard.

Landscaping was done to clean up the yard and garden.  Plants and trees were planted and a small rock waterfall was installed in the corner of the yard, but it wasn’t until an ornamental vinyl fence was put around the border of the yard did I actually feel like it would be a legitimately beautiful event.
